We have heard countless stories of companies paying huge monthly sums for ineffective and even damaging SEO campaigns.  They have been damaged by Panda and Penguin updates and algorithm changes from search engines like Google.

What can be done, or what could they have done to be sure the SEO Company they chose was acting in the best way to future proof them against these things? How were they and the SEO Company to know that these algorithms would change?  Isn’t it just bad luck?

We believe there is no such thing as bad luck when it comes to SEO.  When we are children we are taught about a healthy diet being a little of everything that gives us that balance, that is exactly like SEO.  You just cannot cheat or take shortcuts with your SEO.

SEO is all about being natural – which is why it is often referred to nowadays as “Organic SEO”

Campaigns should be a little of everything to achieve that healthy balance – there are many things which add to the blend and like a recipe there can be many ways to mix it up and present it but the output should still be the same, a healthy meal.

Our blend of SEO tends to be bespoke to each business, the recipe is carefully drawn up from our experience over many years but usually includes:

  • Lots of great content that is written, not with SEO in mind but with catchy titles, information and calls to action to help with lead generation – SEO is the afterthought and generally we do not need to amend an article or blog if it has been written well.
  • Social media – reaching out to other people who are going to be interested in our content, service or advice, ensuring we reach the right audience makes our content work – the search engines pick up on this.
  • PR – can draw attention to particular stories that are relevant to the readers, provide the opportunity to talk about current issues on radio or TV.  Relevance needs to be the key word here, if your work is not being published then you have the wrong audience, the wrong approach or strategy.
  • Website – your website is not only where people can find out more about your company, it is a lead generation tool, it needs to be able to pick up the right audience from the search engines and links to give you any chance of converting traffic to clients.  How you present your site is often more to the point than the number of links you have pointing to it.  If you have 500 visitors that are referred but only 1 makes a purchase then something is not working, how about having 50 visitors and 5 purchase – a much better result I am sure you will agree?  Concentrate on your user experience when they arrive at your site instead of trying to get tonnes of visitors.
  • Email marketing, QR codes, PCC – there are many other tools and services at our disposal.
